Choosing the Right Transgender Wig
Beginners often do not realize how much planning and effort are involved in choosing, and caring for, the right wig. When purchasing a transgender wig for the first time, customers simply see themselves in a wig and have a hard time seeing his/her true look. It will take time to see oneself in a mirror the right way, but this is only natural when wearing a wig is still a new experience.
The first decision will be whether to purchase a wig of real human hair or synthetic hair. In the short-term, the differences between the two are quite minimal, and only trained professionals in hair care will be able to tell them apart. Human hair looks more realistic, of course, and is also more durable and longer-lasting than synthetic hair. However, the styling and maintenance of human hair wigs also requires more skill; the artificial polymers in synthetic strands of hair hold their shape much more efficiently than strands of real hair, which makes synthetic hair wigs much easier to style.
It is also important to consider that synthetic wigs are generally much cheaper than wigs of real hair. First-timers are usually unsure which color will be best for them, so it’s recommended to avoid extremes such as jet black or platinum blonde. Instead, wigs with “softer” or more natural-looking colors or color blends are considered ideal. Auburn and brown are considered good base colors, and many wigs with streaks of different [yet similar] colors are also available for a natural look.
For beginners, the quality of the style is more important than the quality of the hair. It’s recommended to search for transgender wigs that are fully-styled in advance, at least until the customer has more experience in choosing between different types and finding the style which works best for them.
First-time purchasers often will not know their ideal style at first, so it’s good to experiment with pre-styled wigs and keep all options open. For transgender wigs, choosing the right cut, size and style are all important factors, but first-timers should not feel intimidated. These details will not be known off-hand, especially in the beginning, and experienced hair care professionals are always there to help. It is a process of trial and error which only requires the willingness to try numerous types of cuts and styles; it does not mean new wigs must be purchased over and over!
For all of these reasons, it is not recommended for beginners to purchase their first wigs online. There are simply too many factors for which all beginners deserve personal assistance from wig specialists, and that’s where Wig Elegance comes in.
